When a permit has been issued for a stage carriage, the vehicle covered by such a permit
may also be plied as a contract carriage, subject of course to conditions that may be specified in
the permit. It is not the requirement that separate permits should be obtained for plying a vehicle
as a contract carriage, even though it is authorised to be so plied by a permit in accordance with
the provisions of first proviso to sub-section (1).—Bhanwar Singh v. State of Rajasthan AIR 1990
